About Morad Abaz

I'm a Data Engineer working with Spark, Iceberg, and dbt on AWS. Right now I'm the sole DE at a SaaS company, maintaining a Lakehouse platform with Dozens of Glue jobs — which means when something breaks at 8am, it's on me to figure out why.

Most of my day-to-day is diagnosing performance issues in Spark pipelines, understanding how Iceberg behaves under real production conditions, and making architectural decisions that I'll have to live with tomorrow. I write about these problems on Medium.

Before data engineering I was a software developer (Python, PHP and React Native), which helps when the problem isn't the data but the code around it.
